Kingston Economic Development (KED) has wrapped another year of their Summer Company program, this year with more businesses launching than in previous years.
The three-month program, funded by the Government of Ontario, provides coaching, mentorship and funding for students aged 15 to 29 to build their own businesses.
With extra funding allocated to Kingston this year, KED was able to assist in building an additional 2 businesses compared to previous years, making for a total of 12. The lineup this year spanned across a variety of industries, including farming, technology, health, and fashion.
As it is projected the Canadian economy is going to see over $2 billion worth of business assets change hands in the next 10 years with business owners looking to switch gears or retire, KED is hoping this program can support the next generation of entrepreneurs.
