Grand Erie District School Board (GEDSB) will be hosting its first You Belong Here, high school information night for Six Nations students and families who are currently in grades 6, 7 and 8. It will be held on Oct. 23 at J.C. Hill School in Ohsweken.
The school board is hoping the night can help students prepare and get familiar with it’s “big 6” high schools within the board. The local schools are McKinnon Park Secondary School, Cayuga Secondary School, Hagersville Secondary School, Brantford Collegiate Institute, Pauline Johnson Collegiate and Vocational School, and Tollgate Technological Skills Centre.
Danielle Vanevery, GEDSB Native Education Councilor says the event will help answer questions for students and their families on different programs that are offered through the different schools, and helping the student to make an informed decision on where they would like to attend high school.
