Yesterday’s Weather is an internet sketch series, where two friends decide to start a TV show talking about the weather events from the previous day, that kept longtime friends and collaborators Jason McIntyre and Brennan Garnett entertained when they were isolating together during the Covid-19 pandemic. They created over 150 videos which they shared to Instagram and Tik Tok.
The response to the series from both friends and strangers was enough to convince them to develop the series into a short film, which debuted at Fredericton’s Silverwave Film Festival this weekend, as a pilot to potentially develop it further into a TV series.
The 14 minute film took home five awards from the festival including Excellence In Art Direction, Screenwriting and both male/female, or gender non-conforming categories for Outstanding Supporting Performance.
We sat down with the pair to unpack the journey, starting with the creative chemistry the two share.
