About a dozen people gathered last Friday in honour of World Wetlands Day at the Tantramar Wetlands Centre to share knowledge and ideas. It’s the second year the municipality marked the day with a celebration.
Janie Brooks, Tantramar Climate Change Coordinator, organized the event. “I think it’s a great opportunity to bring municipal leaders, who have a lot of power on Tantramar council, and scientists and ecologists and bring them together for an hour and half and kind of celebrate the wetlands that we are stewards of,” she told CHMA News.
Three groups discussed the projects they’re working on. They included building trails in a new park, a marshland bird count and a scavenger hunt through three of the area’s wetlands.
