The Wolfe Islander IV will be replacing the Wolfe Islander III to bring passengers between Wolfe Island and Kingston on August 17th. The ferry will be larger than its predecessor and will be in operation full time.
This transition has been anticipated since 2021, which was the original date announced by the Ministry of Transportation (MTO). After years of delays, travelers between Wolfe Island and Kingston can expect a new, more energy-efficient ride before the end of the summer.
According to the Ministry, the new ferry is one of the first electric passenger and vehicle ferries in North America, and will be able to transport 50 per cent more vehicles than its predecessor.
