Just For Laughs (JFL) stunned Montreal’s comedy scene when it announced last week it was filing for creditor protection and canceling the 2024 festival. Since then, local comedians have struggled to come to terms with what the announcement means for their own opportunities.

Montreal comedian and producer Elie Gill responded to the news with mtlcomedy.ca: a new website where the public can go to find who’s performing in the city, any night of the week. Right now there’s only English comedy, but Gill says she has plans of adding French shows as well. She spoke to CKUT about the new website.
