Wellington North Council has passed a motion supporting a request to the province and the federal government for changes to Land Transfer Tax (LTT) and the GST. Council is joining other municipalities seeking what they call fairer distirbution of the LTT and GST.
Council is also asking that funding from the Land Transfer Tax and GST be structured to provide more predictable and sustainable funding to municipalities.
Councillor Steve McCabe says the current agreement between the province and the federal government hasn’t been updated in years and it is a broken system.
