At a time when legions across Canada are shutting their doors or struggling to stay open, the Wellington Legion in Prince Edward County is still going strong. Nov. 25 was the official 95th anniversary date for the Branch 160 and they celebrated last Sunday by the membership inviting the public to share a lunch and to acknowledge the milestone.
With a village of less than 200 and only 23,000 in the County, Wellington Legion has 230 members and has seen an increase of 30 per cent in 2024. How do they do it? President Peter Campbell said their goal is to stay current and everything they do is to enhance, nurture and grow the connection with the community. Branch 160 provides a reasonably priced space where community groups meet, yoga classes take place, bands rent to perform and their thriving competitive darts league attracts people from across the County.
