The much-discussed Elora Village of Lights is officially a go, not long after the event was taken off the table for fear of an overwhelming amount of traffic in the downtown core. The event kicks off tonight at 6 pm.
Kat Florence Canada, a local company that has been restoring old buildings in the town, is giving subsidies to businesses, paying for bulbs and enabling them to light up their storefronts.
Over 100,000 LED string lights are expected to illuminate the town.
Kat Florence, run by Don Kogen and and his wife Kristy Hillis, had originally cancelled the event, following mass resident concern and about traffic issues.
With the event back up and ready to kick off, both Kogen and Centre Wellington Mayor Shawn Watters say they feel better prepared to deal with the traffic, and are excited about the local tourism potential.
