In the midst of a heatwave, mourners gathered in Cabot Square on Wednesday for a vigil for those experiencing homelessness who have died in Montreal since 2021. Many of them were Indigenous.
Resilience Montreal and the Native Women’s Shelter of Montreal co-organized the vigil, which featured photos and called on attendees to share memories of those lost. Over thirty people were on the board, and attendees named more throughout the event.
CKUT was on the scene to speak with organizers and attendees.
