Folk pop artist Kele Fleming delves into the concept of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and humanity in her new song “Turing Test”.
The song was written in just 12 hours, in between sessions, and was recorded in June 2024 at Vancouver’s The Warehouse Studio.
Fleming grew up in Nova Scotia, with family ties in both Musquodoboit and the Annapolis Valley, and eventually moved to Vancouver, and then Victoria.
Embracing being alive and having access to the cosmos are two key points of inspiration in Fleming’s song, with a nod to Alan Turing who created the Turing Test, and who was a member of the LGBTQIA+ community.
Fleming also talks on eating stars for breakfast, the Turing Test, and how AI may be wanting to fulfil the quest of experiencing human life in this interview with Local Journalist Sarah Drysdale.
