In the short time since returning to the ice in 2018, after going defunct in 2008, the University of New Brunswick women’s hockey program has seen a steady rise and lots of success. Going into this season three-time defending Atlantic University Sport Champions.
UNB is no stranger when it comes to success in hockey on the highest stage, hosting and winning multiple national championships on the men’s side. But now their women’s program has taken that next step in building the prestige of their program as they were recently announced as the hosts for the 2027 U Sports Women’s Hockey Nationals.
CHSR News talked to Sarah Hilworth, Head Coach, about what hosting a national championship means to her program and the path forward in pursuit of a national title.
