The 9th annual Two Row on the Grand has wrapped up this year’s canoe paddle with the strongest community engagement the event has seen yet says Ellie Joseph, co-founder of the organization.
This year’s paddle took place from July 24 – Aug. 2.
Joseph attributes the success of this year’s paddle to an increase of paddlers participating in the entire 10 day journey along the Grand River. This year, the canoe paddle had 65 of its participants for the entire journey, compared to previous years where more participants chose only to participate in parts of the event’s 10 days.
Joseph says because of the number of paddlers participating in the entire 10 days, the group was able to bond and come together to form friendships and build relationships despite age differences and cultural backgrounds.
The organizer hopes the event can continue to grow and expand in years to come.
