At their meeting this week, Loyalist Township council directed staff to commence public consultation regarding road name changes on Edgewood Road. If changes take place, a number of residents in the area will see their current civic address changed in the process.
The changes have been recommended to rectify concerns raised by residents, emergency services, and staff at both Loyalist Township, and the County of Lennox and Addington.
The existing numbering system does not follow an orderly arrangement of odd and even numbers as the by-law for civic addressing requires. Staff’s report also noted that emergency services prefer to not have addresses labelled with letters, and have had previous issues finding addresses in the area.
A full review was completed by staff, and a proposed resolution has been brought to both township and county staff. Once they’ve received and analyzed public opinion, township council will discuss next steps.
