The Town of Brome Lake has launched a bilingual heritage podcast that dives into the stories of figures and buildings that are significant to the municipality’s history entitled Lake Stories.
Coinciding with the heritage circuit that was developed by the Lac-Brome Museum in 2021, the goal with the podcast is to encourage people to become more interested in Brome Lake’s history by creating an experience that is attractive to all generations, according to Ouennassa Khiari, the cultural agent who led the project.
Khiari noted that from her experience, heritage tours aren’t always engaging for the younger population — the podcast is all about providing a different medium to help make Brome Lake’s history more accessible.
Written by historians Laurent Brusseau and Jim Manson, alongside playwright Laura Teasdale, and voiced by author Louise Penny and Raymond Cloutier, the first four episodes of the podcast focus on the village of Knowlton.
