Toronto Public Health (TPH) presented three recommendations to the advancement of health for the urban Indigenous population in the city at a health board meeting this week.
Following the Truth and Reconciliation Commission inquiry and calls to action TPH has made their own inquiries and reports: one in 2016 and another in 2022 to ensure culturally safe and responsible advancements that kept the City’s indigenous population in mind.
TPH presented three new recommendations to the health board on Jan. 15 to further encourage learning and understanding of Indigenous culture and needs.
The recommendations include reporting on the “establishment of an Indigenous wellness committee,” to have the health board take a cultural safety training and for the training to be a special meeting.
