Two second-hand clothing stores in Halifax are combining forces to satisfy the thrifting needs of shoppers in the downtown area.
Daniel McQuinn, owner of Metro Thrift, has recently found himself a permanent brick and mortar location for his otherwise mobile thrift store. The 25-year-old, who spent the last two years selling clothes out of a repurposed bus across the city, has partnered with Zeynep Tonak, co-founder of consignment store Zealous.
The two entrepreneurs are now selling second-hand clothing under the same roof — sharing costs, experience, and ideas as they familiarize themselves with an evolving market. All while McQuinn’s bus remains parked outside.
Tonak, also 25, launched her store in May. She said she and McQuinn are working to provide affordable clothing while navigating a vintage market that’s exploded in recent years.
