Everyone has a story of how Pride and sexuality shaped who they are today. The Rainbow Project: Searching for a voice, Pride stories through the decades will showcase local actors sharing personal stories of finding their voice and Pride.
Created in partnership with Vancouver Island University theatre department instructor Robin Boxwell and playwright Bill Miner, The Rainbow Project will shine the light on each one’s personal growth and the ups and downs of finding who they are.
CHLY attended an early run-through of the project at Le Brunch Café before the two performances at VIU’s Malaspina Theatre this weekend. The actors share with CHLY the importance of telling their stories and keeping the history of the tragedies in the community. For some, this is the first time they are publicly talking about their coming-out stories.
