Caregiving is an important job, but one which comes with many challenges. One of the biggest is preventing burnout. The Terrace Regional Hospice Network Society recently released a survey online to find out what caregivers need to tackle burnout. Options include paint nights, book club, or movie nights.
The Terrace Regional Hospice Society (TRHS) is a not for profit organization located on Park Ave in Terrace, BC delivering end-of-life care to anyone who requires it (whether they are from the region or not). TRHS also helps connect resources for people with lifelong illness or disability diagnoses such as medical equipment they might need (a hospital bed, wheelchair, walker, lift, etc).
Celina Hall, the TRHS Caregiver Support Coordinator told CICK, “We don’t recognize the job that they [caregivers] do. It’s an unpaid job. It’s 24-7 and the burnout is something that people really struggle with”.
