Discussions surrounding the Queen’s budget cuts continue as Provost Matthew Evans and Dean Barbara Crow made an appearance at the last Queen’s Arts & Science Undergraduate Society (ASUS) assembly, and a special senate meeting was held last week to discuss the topic.
At the ASUS meeting, Evans redirected ArtSci Faculty related questions to Dean Crow, and Crow declined to answer. At Wednesday’s special senate meeting, Provost Evans presented some new figures to members of the senate.
After Monday and Wednesday’s meetings, Queen’s Students vs Cuts, a group of students and members of the Queen’s community that have been speaking out regarding the cuts, posted on social media criticizing the narrative being pushed regarding the role of Arts and Science in the deficit.
While Provost Evans and Dean Crow pulled out of the Alma Mater Society (AMS) Assembly they were planning to attend, the Queen’s community is hopeful that more information will be shared at the ArtSci Faculty Board meeting Jan. 26.
