A student run campaign has begun to save a society at Concordia which recycles much of the school’s waste.
The Concordia University Center for Creative Reuse, or CUCCR, receives waste from the university and helps find ways of recycling it creatively. The CUCCR gets old tech, keyboards and monitors, binders, maps, fabrics, cook wear, uniforms, furniture, decorations and more from the school and finds ways of preventing it from going to a landfill.
The group is funded by Concordia which allows them to pay staff and run its warehouse. The organization has a contract with the school that lasts until April of 2025, but it has not been assured of its renewal after that.
With Concordia’s current financial situation, there are concerns that a renewal may not happen. Some students now feel the need to make the groups importance known.
