The Society for Palestinian Human Rights Concordia is creating an appeal to regain official club status at the school.
At the beginning of this academic year the The Society for Palestinian Human Rights, or SPHR, was held back from official club status at Concordia. Initially the group showed no interest in regaining this status, but they have pivoted their position.
The SPHR had existed for 25 years as an official club at Concordia, starting in 1999 and running many campaigns, sit ins, demonstrations, petitions, writing campaigns, and more in its time on campus. But since the beginning of the Israel-Hamas war in October of 2023, the club has become more active and increasingly controversial.
