Friday’s International Women’s Day (IWD) events kicked off a week of seminars to bring awareness to challenges facing women in Prince George. This year, the conversations surrounding IWD continue into this week (March 4-10) during Social Work Week, a profession where women are well represented.
CFUR News talked to four women about how they persevere, inside and outside of their work with Northern FIRE (Feminist Institute for Research and Evaluation) to address these challenges. A few items, of many mentioned, keep these leaders pursuing equity in the region — networking, mutual support and the shared knowledge of significant milestones achieved along the way such as the accomplishments of the historic abortion caravan which took place over 50 years ago.
