Prince George is widely known as a hub for industry and resources but is celebrated less for its role as a social services hub.
In recognition of the role that social work plays, Prince George is observing Social Work Week, hosted by the BC Association of Social Workers (BCASW) Northern Branch.
Social Work Week is happening this year from March 10-16 in communities across the province. The theme of this year’s celebrations is “One Profession, Many Roles”.
Prince George delivers a variety of governmental, non-profit, charitable, and privately operated services administered by a small army of social workers. This year’s proclamation was launched in front of the downtown statue of Bridget Moran, a person who strove to establish functional social services in the community.
