The Snuneymuxw First Nation is celebrating the purchase of its second casino on Vancouver Island.
After the Nation purchased Casino Nanaimo back in June of this year from Great Canadian Entertainment, Snuneymuxw has signed a definitive agreement to purchase a second casino from the entertainment group in Victoria: Elements Casino.
CHLY attended the signing at the Snuneymuxw Recreation and Wellness Centre on Sept. 10.
Snuneymuxw First Nation Chief Mike Wyse said that this venture will create lasting prosperity for both the present and future generations.
This acquisition, he said, will have a transformative effect on the nation and help them achieve their goals.
Terrance Doyle, president of Great Canadian Entertainment, said that the acquisitions of the two casinos will make Snuneymuxw a significant player in the B.C. gaming industry.
