As the war in Palestine rages on, civilian casualties have topped 20,000, and there’s no end is sight. Support for Palestinians has been mounting around the world and in Northwest B.C.
The Rustica Bakery near Smithers has connections around the world. “I don’t want war,” said Meg Roberts, owner and head baker at Rustica Bakery. “There are civilians and children in the crossfire and that needs to stop. I want to see peace in our world, not more wars.”
This past weekend Roberts and others pulled together to bake up dozens of Mediterranean and Palestinian style breads and treats, this time in support of the civilians in Palestine, especially those in Gaza. Roberts said Rustica is embarking on a new initiative called Peacemeal Projects to help civilians in conflict zones.
