Next week the Six Nations community will be celebrating local NHL player Brandon Montour’s 2024 Stanley Cup win with the Florida Panthers, and Montour will be bringing the Stanley Cup with him to the celebrations.
Six Nations Elected Council (SNEC) announced in a July 16 media release that the celebrations will take place on July 24 and will include a parade beginning at the Ohsweken Speedway and culminating at the Six Nations Sports & Cultural Memorial Centre.
Montour will also be recognized by the community during the celebrations by receiving the Six Nations Honourary Ronateríhonte (Leader) Award.
Six Nations Chief, Sherri-Lyn Hill spoke on celebrating with the local athlete. “We are very proud of Brandon and his accomplishments, this celebration is historic and we’re glad Brandon is sharing his day with Six Nations.”
SNEC say they are expecting thousands of fans to come and show their support for Montour.
