Six Nations’ Fawn Porter, recently won a bronze medal for the Haudenosaunee Nationals at the first ever women’s world box lacrosse championships last month in Utica, NY.
The 21-4 win over Australia was also historic as the bronze medal was also the Haudenosaunee women’s first medal in a world championship for either box or field lacrosse.
Porter, who was named team captain ahead of the September tournament spoke to how proud she was of the 23-women roster as they were able to show their talents on the world stage and that women can excel in the box lacrosse game.
She says she hopes the tournament has opened the world’s eyes, and that the addition of lacrosse into the 2028 Olympics will further boost the profile of the game.
