Following the publication a recent report showing child poverty on the rise, Evelyn McNulty, executive director of Romero House, a soup kitchen located in Uptown Saint John, provided her first-hand observations of the current situation, underlying problems of poverty and how the community supports her organization’s work.
The report on child poverty was published by the Human Development Council, a social planning council based in Saint John. Local 107.3FM also spoke with social researcher and co-author of the report, Heather Atcheson about the trends it shows in the levels of child poverty in the city and beyond.
