Head Coach of the Russell Soccer Club, Robert Taylor, praised the players, board of directors, volunteers, coaches, and local diversity for this year’s successes on the fields.
The club is based in the Village of Russell, southeast of Ottawa, and has built back its pre-pandemic membership to 1500 players, plus hundreds of coaches, managers and volunteers. With many young families in the area Taylor predicts that additional fields will soon be needed.
Taylor told CJRO News that as the population grows and people move into the community from different parts of the world, soccer increases in popularity.” A lot of these players that are coming in are coming from countries who were born with a foot[ball] on their feet as opposed to a puck”.
Coach Taylor talks about the many successful teams, their coaches and what he thinks makes the club special.
