The Trent Central Student Association (TCSA), Trent University’s student union, has appointed Riya Jaykar as president of the organization after the spring general election, held on March 22, left the position vacant.
The spring general election had only one candidate running for the president position and they removed themselves from the ballot before the election date.
TCSA staff and board members formed an appointment committee to fill the role until they can elect a president in the fall by-election. Jaykar’s presidential term with the TCSA began mid-April and will end October 20.
Trent Radio met with Jaykar to introduce the organization’s new president and was also joined by TCSA Resource Manager Wendy Walker to learn about the appointment process.
