A 27-year old man from Quebec died on Sat. Dec. 4 while snowmobiling in the Toilet Bowl area of Boulder Mountain, according to a news release from the Revelstoke RCMP.
Now the RCMP and B.C. Coroner’s Service are investigating his death.
The Revelstoke Snowmobile Club is also working with the RCMP and Search and Rescue to understand what happened. “The news of this incident has hit us hard,” said Todd Dumais, the president of the club.
In an email he said people come from all over the world to snowmobile in Revelstoke. Despite that he said the community is tight knit. Dumais says the club will continue to educate riders on responsible practices and reinforce the importance of preparedness and caution in the snowmobile community.
He said that the club hadn’t started grooming trails when the death happened on last weekend. They anticipate starting this coming Saturday, pending favourable weather conditions.
