At an presentation on Monday, it was announced that Queen’s University alumnus and Chancellor Emeritus Murray Sinclair and his partner Cara Sinclair have made a historic donation of $25 million to Queen’s cancer research.
The gift will be used to acquire a new imaging facility, a biomanufacturing facility, and to train the next generation of cancer researchers. These enhancements have the potential of significantly impact cancer research not only in Canada but globally.
In honor of the transformative gift, the institute was renamed the Sinclair Cancer Research Institute.
In a speech at the presentation, Cara Sinclair stated, “its universality is what can bring hope. It affects everyone, everywhere. So it can also bring us together to beat it. Because cancer affects all of us, we have a common goal. We all have a stake in it.”
