Prince Edward County Council chamber was packed with the Mustafa family last Tuesday night as they gathered to witness their son,15 year old Ahmad Mustafa, receive a Civic Recognition Award from Mayor Steve Ferguson.
May 28 2023 was a day the family will never forget. Ahmad, 14 at the time, noticed the family house was on fire and quickly went into action to save the family. All seven members of the family escaped unharmed with only the clothes on their backs. The fire completely destroyed the home, their commercial kitchen aw well as a custom bed, chairs and van for the special needs son.
The PEC community quickly rallied to raise $73,000.00 which has helped the family rebuild their lives once again.
