It was all smiles on Thursday as Montrealers celebrated World Refugee Day with food, dancing, and info-sharing at the Centre St Jax.
But advocates expressed worry to CKUT about changes in provincial policy toward refugees. Premier Francois Legault recently announced his intention to halve the number of asylum seekers Quebec takes in, and has blamed migrants for Quebec’s housing crisis.
A spokesperson from the Ministry of Immigration, Frenchisation and Integration did not immediately give comment when reached by CKUT.
