One of Ontario’s 10 new Youth Wellness Hubs will open in Port Hope next year to serve Northumberland County and Alderville First Nation.
Thursday’s launch at 15 Cavan Street attracted a number officials, including Mayor Olena Hankivsky and three provincial ministers including Deputy Premier and Minister of Health Sylvia Jones; Associate Minister of Mental Health and Addictions Michael Tibollo; and Minister of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development, David Piccini, who is also the local MPP.
The Hub will connect youth aged 12 to 25 and their families to free mental health, substance use and primary care services, family support, education, employment, housing and access to community programs such as financial assistance for recreational programs and legal support.
In addition to Port Hope, four other hubs will be added in Thunder Bay, Oxford County, Vaughan and Brampton, with another five to be funded through Budget 2024 with an investment of $8.3 million over three years.
