On Tuesday, the remains of 77-year old Eugene Earl Spoon from Kansas were found in the rubble of a weekend fire that took down the Deer Lake Driftwood Inn. The blaze broke out early Saturday morning. RCMP Cpl Jolene Garland says the force issued a news release over the weekend looking for the elderly man, who was staying at the Inn while in the province for a hunting trip. As part of a search of the fire scene, police confirmed the remains were of the missing man. Garland says both the fire and the man’s death are under investigation. She says the family of the deceased man have been notified.
