Clean Fuel Regulations were put into place on July 1, 2023. Recently, on Jan. 4, the NL Public Utilities Board announced that it will be increasing fuel costs to mitigate the costs of compliance with the Clean Fuel regulations.
Federal Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre these regulations are too much and it’s only going to get worse. He says when you add up the carbon tax with this it reaches about 20 cents a litre in new costs that have come in since July and this tax will go up to 61 cents a litre. Poilievre says it’s really going to hurt Newfoundlanders and Labradorians.
