It’s been nearly three weeks since more than 55, 000 postal workers across the Canada went on strike, and although negotiations are still ongoing, mediation between Canada Post and Union workers has still not been successful.
With just weeks left before Christmas, even the US Postal Service has stopped taking packages bound for Canada, as the backlog grows with no signs of the strike ending.
Representatives from the Canadian Union of Postal Workers in Smithers, B.C. reiterated why the Union’s demands are a reasonable step forward and why their members are prepared to continue the strike, even as well below freezing temperatures approach.
