Books To Prisoners BC is a non-profit organization that began in Vancouver in 1992, provides prisoners with reading materials, and has now opened a new Victoria Collective.
This new Victoria Collective which opened in January of this year will provide inmates at the Vancouver Island Regional Correctional Centre and the Nanaimo Correctional Centre with books.
CHLY spoke with Stephanie Sweetnam, who runs the collective in Victoria. She talks about how the organization will work with the two different correctional centres to send books to those inside. As well she talks about the types of books that are not allowed in the correctional centres and how others can donate books they may have.
