As the BC Nurses’ Union (BCNU) head to the negotiation table, over 250 nurses from around the Vancouver Island area rallied in downtown Nanaimo.
The BCNU held a two-day conference in Nanaimo that finished up with a rally along Terminal Avenue on Friday, January 10.
BCNU’s current collective agreement with the provincial government expires on March 31 of this year. President of BCNU Adriane Gear spoke to the crowd saying she has heard the frustration and challenges nurses are facing.
CHLY spoke with Gear after the rally about current concerns nurses are facing in the workplace, and with Teri Forester a regional council member for the BC Nurses’ Union. She spoke to CHLY about concerns she has been hearing from student nurses about entering the field.
