The Northumberland Land Trust says it has met its fundraising goal to buy 300-acres of land along Highway 401 near Brighton.
The organization raised $190,000 to purchase the Biddy Creek Wetland property in just two months. It partnered with Ducks Unlimited Canada on its first ever land purchase. The property is expected to close at the end of this month and will be the largest reserve within the Northumberland Land Trust’s portfolio.
The Biddy Creek Property is unique as it is untouched, featuring a forest and bogs. Doug McCrae, a board member with the Northumberland Land Trust says he can’t wait to study the ecological aspects of the wetland.
McCrae spoke with CFWN News about the purchase and future of the Biddy Creek Property.
