The Suzy Hamilton awards honour the work of a woman or non-binary environmental activist in the West Kootenay each year with a cash prize and this year’s nominees have been announced.
The awards were created in 2016 after environmental activist and journalist Suzy Hamilton passed away.
The winners are chosen by the Suzy Hamilton Fund Committee and the fund is managed by the Osprey Community Foundation. There are two streams for the award: the legacy award and the lifetime achievement award.
Nominees for the legacy award include Cheryl Cook, Andrea Fox and Genna Lazier. The nominees for the lifetime achievement award are Claudette Burton, Sally Hammond and Nancie Dohan.
The winners will be chosen at a meeting of the Suzy Hamilton Fund Committee on May 14.
