The head of the Newfoundland and Labrador Liquor Corporation (NLC) is reporting increases in cannabis and alcohol sales after a very sluggish market in the first quarters for the last two years.
Bruce Keating says net earnings for the first quarter of this year is $48 million. Total alcohol sales for the quarter rang in at nearly $75 million and cannabis sales for the quarter totalled $24.3 million. Keating says a major factor for this 25 per cent increase in cannabis sales is that 14 new licensed retailers have opened in the last year.
