Friends of Cortes Island (FOCI) is hosting a new winter series of nature workshops that aim to encourage the community to get involved.
Executive Director Helen Hall says that the “Create Connect and Conserve” series is intended to inspire locals to, “take action for nature.” The events give attendants the opportunity to get involved in action-based projects that they can carry out on their own.
At the first event on Feb. 3, Bob Hansen spoke about safe coexistence with wildlife like bears, cougars and wolves.
On Feb. 24, FOCI will be hosting a workshop to build a bug hotel.
On March 24, a third event will be hosted in collaboration with the Natural Food Coop, called “How to Build a Rain Garden.”
There will be three more events hosted in the spring to round out the action-based series. To hear more, listen to the CKTZ News Update.
