Residents are now settling in to new tiny homes on MacCauley Street, the latest project funded in part by the federal government’s Rapid Housing Initiative completed in Kingston.
Habitat for Humanity and the City of Kingston collaborated to build eight geared income rental units. This project could not come at a more crucial time, with the City reporting 523 Kingstonians were precariously housed or unhoused at the end of 2023.
This project is different territory Habitat for Humanity Kingston, according to their Community Engagement Coordinator Alexa Gamache, the organization typically focusing on home ownership rather than rentals.
Kingston is expecting two other projects funded by the federal government’s Rapid Housing Initiative to open by the end of the year.
