Community service organization Lionhearts Inc. is expanding its supportive housing program with seven new units now ready to welcome residents at 234 Brock St.
Since the Kingston Youth Shelter originally located at 234 Brock St. moved in 2021, Kingston Health Sciences Centre has been searching for an organization with a similar vision to take on the space.
After months of preparation, tenants will be able to occupy the newly renovated units by the end of the month. In addition to housing, residents will also be supported by the various programs provided by Lionhearts to help them get back on their feet.
Through warming centres, shelters, and transitional housing combined, Lionhearts shelters and houses over 500 individuals a week across Kingston. Not counting the new units at Brock St., Lionhearts currently has 30 individuals in their supportive housing program, with a goal of 50 by 2025.
