Christann Kennedy is a professional artist and educator that has begun hosting a regular life drawing class on Saturday afternoons in the spring and summer on Cortes Island.
She had her first substantial turnout of students on May 18.
“Drawing a model is something that is hard to arrange individually. So it’s a great community kind of a thing. And it brings people together who… people that I know from other contexts,” Kennedy said.
Kennedy is a new board member for the local gallery and is hoping to share her love for the arts through educational opportunities hosted at the Old School House. The artist plans to continue to offer the Saturday sessions on May 25 and June 1, before the gallery opens for the season, and will continue the sessions in the fall after the gallery season has concluded.
