A new artist collective has opened on Main Street in Bath. The Hive features studio and gallery space for local artists, as well as workshops for the public.
Having done their soft-open on March 1, The Hive looks to host a grand opening on April 6, with a gallery night planned as well.
Co-founded by Amanda Lloyd and David Slack, The Hive is set to ensure the availability of community space for local artists in the area. After Lakeside Gallery and Anderwood Studio had to close, Lloyd noted she was trying to think of a way to keep art in Bath.
The pair decided on the art collective model as way to ensure it can stay open for longer despite recent negative trends for local businesses.
The first workshop took place over the weekend featuring oil painter and artist educator Shannon Dickie. The Hive’s website features all their upcoming workshops.
