A recent survey conducted by MQO Research in Halifax has found that nearly half of the city’s eligible voters are unable to name a single candidate in the upcoming mayoral election.
The poll surveyed 383 voters between September 24 and October 2. According to the responses provided, 58 per cent of voters — who are familiar with some candidates — remain undecided while a staggering 46 per cent couldn’t accurately name a single person running in the October 19 election.
Brenden Sommerhalder, vice president at MQO Research, said he’s alarmed that a large percentage of Halifax’s population possess such limited information despite election day being less than two weeks away.
CKDU spoke with Sommerhalder and some Halifax residents about the poll’s findings.
